U.S.S. Constitution is the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world. Her keel was laid in November, 1794, in the yard of Edmund Hartt. and she was launched October 21, 1797. At 2,200 tons with 47,710 square feet of sail, a 43 foot, 6 inch beem, a 234 foot 1 1/2 inch main mast and a 204 foot overall length she was, and is, an impressive sight.
